This is the film I made this past summer as part of the Quickdraw Quicktrack Animation Program. It was an animation residency program based in Calgary. They provided me with all my resources, gave me a space to work in, and commissioned me to create a 90 second animation. It was a wonderful experience! I spent the three summer months making this film, working with a mix of pixellation, cut-outs, 2D animation, compositing and live footage. It was screened during GIRAF, projected on the side of the Jubilee Auditorium on a giant projector. There were three other participants who projected around Calgary as well. Needless to say it was a great great great experience. The sound was sponsored by 6 Degrees Post-Production Sound, and I must say they did a wonderful job with my description.

A Tiny Modernity (Singapore Timelapse 2014)

Do watch in HD with sound for best quality. =============== Description
=============== Singapore is a rather small country. In fact, it is just a insignificant tiny red dot on the map. Despite this, Singapore has four major races living harmoniously in this tiny city-state, and is a well developed country. Having just celebrated its 49th birthday, Singapore has come a long way and developed drastically. Tall skyscrapers, high-rise buildings, and everything modern can be found in this “Lion City”. Despite its modernity, Singapore has preserved its cultures and heartlands accordingly, resulting in a healthy blend of nostalgia and anticipation. A Tiny Modernity is a personal timelapse project that I have worked on since March 2014. Given the nature of my job, I had mostly only weekends to shoot, hence it took awhile for me to produce this clip. Music: “Time” by ‘Hanz Zimmer’ ===============

Advanced Lighting in Houdini - preview

Hi guys, I'm Adrian and I'm happy to tell you a few words about my first Advanced Training Course: Lighting in Houdini. Get it from here: http://training.adrianlazar.com/advanced-lighting-in-houdini/ Training description: During almost 4 hours of video training we are going to discuss how to work with lights in Houdini 12 but also what a lighting artist job is in a cg production. Using a real production scene I’m going to show you that relying just on Global Illumination is not enough to get the job done and that every asset in the scene requires special attention. In this training course I tried to cover both the artistic and the technical side of what a lighting artist has to know since I think both are necessary to be successful in this job. Note that the Training Course can be both downloaded to be watched offline or it can be streamed online. Content: Part 1 - Introduction. A few words about me and about the lighting artist job. Part 2 – Basic introduction to lights, render settings and shader work in Houdini. We use a demo scene to talk briefly about how the above work and interact. If you are a more advanced user you can skip this part since it’s aimed at the beginners. Part 3 – Global Illumination. Using a real production scene we are going to work with Global Illumination from the PBR and we discuss the pro and cons of this technique. We are also going to briefly talk about a few render settings that are affecting the lighting in our scene. Part 4 – Building on top of part three we are adding a secondary light for direct sunlight and talk about the improvements of our scene. Part 5 - Continuing our lighting process we start taking care of almost every asset creating RimLights, KeyLights and FillLights so we can get the most of them. Part 6 – Final render and conclusion. While this training is made in SideFx Houdini the techniques and the principles you’re going to learn here can be easily applied in any 3d software. Every 3d package can work with Point / Omni Lights and Spotlights and these lights are the ones you as a lighting artist will use maybe 80% of the time. This Video Training Course is released directly by me, the artist, so there’s no middle man to charge half of the price. Get it from here: http://training.adrianlazar.com/advanced-lighting-in-houdini/ Thank you, -Adrian

14. Reel '14 - Daniel Gomes Lacerda (Django Tribute)

Reel '14 - Daniel Gomes Lacerda (Django Tribute)

Soundtrack: 2pac & James Brown - Unchained 2pac & James Brown - Unchained (Refracture Revamp) =============================================== Description in English (or engrish): Before anything, I do not smoke. It was all purely scenic. Well, this year I decided to do something different, I tried to get away from the conventional, as lately I've seen many westerns decided to make a tribute to the "Django Unchained", which for me was one of the most FUCKING BEST films I've seen in my life. I imagine that many people can come to criticize me, after all this "reel" was designed to be as informal as possible, so the criticism is more than welcome. Now I wonder, will lose some "job" because of this informality? Maybe. Maybe not. What really matters is that I realized a desire. The desire to be creative, not afraid to be happy. Special thanks to my great friends, Bruno Rezende and Arnon Malakian. LETS ROLL!

Advice from a young designer to younger designers - Lil Chen - btconfDUS 2016

Advice from a young designer to younger designers Description: --------------- You have just set foot at your first design job. There, you begin realizing that designing on the job requires a lot more skills than just in typography and HTML/CSS. How do you effectively communicate your work to non-design colleagues? What steps must you take to grow internally? Most of all, how do you even get noticed in your company? After three and a half years of working at TED as my first job out of college, I’m here to share with you hard-learned career lessons that we all wish someone would have told us earlier. This talk will hopefully prevent you from flailing around aimlessly for too long like I once did as a young designer. --------------- Talk & speaker bio: https://beyondtellerrand.com/events/duesseldorf-2016/speakers/lil-chen MORE INFORMATION Watch this little recap video to get an impression how beyond tellerrand events look like: http://vimeo.com/69823900 Information about beyond tellerrand: http://beyondtellerrand.com/ http://twitter.com/btconf

LOMO ANAMORPHIC TEST | ARRI AMIRA

Shot this little test at my office the other day. Also shot some stuff out and about in the streets around my office. Super fun, no particular agenda other than having a free Lomo 35mm Anamorphic lens on hand. Check it out. Shot 3.2K Arri Amira Lomo Anamorphic 35mm 2x 4000K 800-1600ISO 180DEGREE 23.976 T2.8-4/5.6 Here is a rough description of my workflow for anamorphic on Amira (sent this to another DP looking for insight): I shoot Prores4444 Opengate 3.2K 16:9. Which has approximately a height of 15mm (close to the 18mm needed for true anamorphic). Use the extra resolution to crop the excess on the sides and finish post in 2K Resolution is pretty good when shooting 3.2K Open Gate. 15mm height as opposed to 18mm 35mm Academy Film height or 4:3 Alexa/AlexaMini. Regular 2K 16:9 has only 12.5mm height. Dragon sensor at 6K has 16.2mm height so it is similar to shooting anamorphic on this sensor. You have to crop a lot of useless data but most of what you crop is out of the image circle and in vignette darkness, you're only losing a little bit of the normal Anamorphic field of view. Monitoring can be a little tricky, but is simple if you have the right tools for the job. The key is to set the Amira up with 4:3 frame lines and have it output those to all of your external monitors. Then I rent monitors that have an internal desqueeze function. When you set the monitor to 2x Desqueeze, it will stretch the 4:3 lines you setup in camera to a proper 2.35:1 anamorphic frame. I use (2) SmallHD DP7 monitors (one for me and one for my 1st AC) and a Flanders 17” CM171 for the director/client. The SmallHD DP7 does a really good anamorphic desqueeze (make sure it isn’t the AC7 - that will not desqueeze). The other nice thing about the DP7 is it allows you to add user masks in the “Guides” menu. In this menu I set a 75% grey mask and set it so that it just barely touches the stretched out 4:3 guides. This is useful for me when monitoring because it basically blacks out all of the extra space on the sides. The Flanders monitor does a really great desqueeze as well, but it doesn’t have the user mask function so I just tape it off for the director similar to a normal 2:35 setup. The only bummer about this method is that you don’t get to utilize the full size of the monitor. You’re just looking at a wide strip in the middle of the monitor. It sounds like a difficult process, but it is actually incredibly easy once you set it up once. If you ever want to do an Anamorphic test, I’d be down to come help you set it up. Me and Matt Mitchell did this recently with some Kowas. Honestly as an Amira owner, I’ve been pushing Arri to add the 4:3 anamorphic firmware to the Amira. They’ve told me it’s possible, but they need enough people to ask for it. So EVERYBODY should email Arri and tell them to do it! I’m investing in an AlexaMini so that will inevitably be my Anamorphic camera, but it’d be really nice if the Amira could do it too. Hope you dig.

Cinematic Bedrooms

This is not the new multi-film montage I hinted at in the description to Rocky: The Distance. No, this one I've in fact had completed for a while now. Back in June I was commissioned by an international agency called Out There to create a montage that depicted the scope of situations and emotions that occur in bedrooms in film. I'd be remiss to not give them a proper plug so here's their nifty website for any interested folks: http://www.outthereww.com/ For those of you who've been reading all these descriptions in my videos, you'll note that June was the point when I moved across the country to start a new full-time job. Even with this precarious timing I jumped at the opportunity to specifically create a montage that wasn't just for my own amusement. Thus I completed this baby in just under a week while at the same time starting at that aforementioned employment. Since the agency was going to use it for internal research purposes, I've had to wait until they were done with it and gave me the go ahead to put it online. I'm actually pretty satisfied with the way it turned out and I like the concept of just exploring one setting through multiple films so I might do another one like this in the future, who knows. For real though, my next montage is well on it's way and is indeed sorta related to the Rocky one. So, here are the films used in this bedroom montage: 00:01 - Hotel Chevalier (2007) 00:06 - Pillow Talk (1959) 00:09 - When Harry Met Sally... (1989) 00:12 - (500) Days of Summer (2009) 00:14 - Lost In Translation (2003) 00:17 - Amélie (2001) 00:19 - Bright Star (2009) 00:23 - Nine 1/2 Weeks (1986) 00:28 - American Gigolo (1980) 00:32 - A Single Man (2009) 00:37 - Her (2013) 00:41 - Charlie's Angels (2000) 00:45 - Garden State (2004) 00:50 - AMerican Beauty (1999) 00:52 - Scary Movie 4 (2006) 00:54 - Sex and The City (2008) 00:56 - Mamma Mia! (2008) 01:00 - Finding Neverland (2004) 01:02 - Indecent Proposal (1993) 01:04 - It's Complicated (2009) 01:08 - Shelock Holmes (2009) 01:11 - Marie Antoinette (2006) 01:16 - Iron Man (2008) 01:18 - Notting Hill (1999) 01:21 - Pride And Prejudice (2005) 01:26 - Revolutionary Road (2008) 01:31 - The Reader (2008) 01:35 - In The Mood For Love (2000) 01:38 - The Wolf Of Wall Street (2013) 01:41 - Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow (1963) 01:43 - Romance & Cigarettes (2005) 01:45 - The Exorcist (1973) 01:47 - Ghostbusters (1984) 01:49 - 50 First Dates (2004) 01:52 - Planes, Trains & Automobiles (1987) 01:54 - Trainspotting (1996) 01:56 - The Godfather (1972) 01:59 - A Nightmare On Elm Steet (1984) 02:01 - Along Came Polly (2004) 02:04 - Pretty Woman (1990) 02:08 - 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) Music: Comptine d'un autre été : L'Après-Midi - Yann Tiersen (from the original motion picture score of Amélie) Disclaimer: I do not own any of the films used in this compilation. I am not a victim, I am severely traumatized by all this, but I want to make it clear that I now live past this, and in nature in a loving and very supportive and beautiful relationship. It's all about telling a story I figure and helping others be aware of what may be happening to them. I have evolved past all this and want to offer this story for your study. I thank you for your time invested learning about my life story in conspiracy and I hope that it offers you some sort of ascension. "Thank you for the document, your story really unearth some things about so called peaceful Canada as well as made me more aware of whats going on behind the curtains" "Hi Shaun, Your experiences make very difficult reading. In fact, I think most people will find it extremely hard to even believe such things happen. It is quite amazing and a testament to your strength of spirit that you remain so positive and full of fellowship." "The fact you have not caught any STDs. It seems to go with the job description of sex slave. Perhaps the PTB protect themselves by some secret technology that makes their slaves immune to sexually transmitted diseases." honestly there is some remedies but again honestly I don't believe that anybody that is targeted per se ever escapes these operations, you can alleviate the symptoms so to speak by moving to the country (nature-deer,mountains, rivers) where you will find less and less people targeting you and more wholesome individuals and by controlling your thought processes through meditation and various sound binaurel 432 hz chakra clearing etc and being aware of those that target you in public places and be able to ignore them, quite a bit of this process involves neuro linguistic programming and if you can be aware of when it is happening you are better suited to overcome the attacks in public. a lot of overcoming this is awareness and knowing and you can start to re program yourself through manifestation, vision boards, affirmations (positive) to reinforce that you are worthy and kind and honest and through other means like art and pottery and getting into nature, because if you are in a suberb notorious for violence and attacks you will feel like you are in a prison, and when you begin to take control of your life you begin to understand that not everything has been your fault, you may feel guilty for things you have done to people but now you have the awareness that you may have been lead there through coded words and programming and now all you have left is to seek forgiveness and be thankful of what you do have and grateful of what you achieve, honestly I think the only religion that gets it is buddhism, it offers a way out without being programmed, a self involved practice in not a religion but an education system, but there is not one sole way to break free !!! We are in a prison solar system with control mechanisms in place to win over as much of these valuable souls as possible and they will not stop until they get what they want and it may mean you resisting until the very end and finally smiling when you have been given your release so to speak back out of captivation and back to your home world where you have been kidnapped from and soul harnessed from YOUR SOUL is far more valuable that you understand and they will go to great lengths and great financial control to win over your soul to this twisted playgame and they are masters at it !!! the longer you resist, the more angry and desperate they become..... Gang stalking is real !! Gang Stalking is a systemic form of control, which seeks to destroy every aspect of a Targeted Individuals life. Once a target is flagged a notification is sent out to the community at large, and the target is followed around 24/7 by the various communities that they are in.
